Rotary Endodontics

Here at All Coast Dental, located in Pacific Beach, CA, we provide an alternative approach to the traditional root canal procedure. This is known as rotary endodontics. Essentially, this procedure is the more high-tech version of a manual root canal, using electrically powered tools to aid our work. This makes the process faster and more precise for our patients. Our doctors, Dr. Julie Boulos and Dr. Joseph Boulous, will be sure to make your visit to our California office as comfortable as possible.

Rotary Endodontics Process

The rotary endodontics procedure is one where the nerves and/or roots of the tooth are removed with a special tool because of the decay or pain that they cause. The rotary cutting device drills into the tooth to clean and shape the root canal. Next, the debris is cleaned out and the canal is filled with a special sealant.

Benefits Over the Traditional Method

Many patients and doctors prefer this procedure to the traditional one because it is far less lengthy and uncomfortable. It is overall quieter, and since it's generally more precise and reliable than the manual procedure, there's a much smaller risk for complications. At All Coast Dental in Pacific Beach, CA, we usually recommend rotary endodontics for our patients over other options because it meets our vision of providing them the quickest and most comfortable care possible. Our doctors, Dr. Julie Boulos and Dr. Joseph Boulos, are trained in this process and have practiced in the state of California for many years.

All in all, rotary endodontics is an updated version of the traditional root canal procedure in which electric tools are used. This allows for quicker service with greater precision and comfort for the patient. Some signs a patient may need a root canal include temperature sensitivity, persistent pain, discoloration, and preexisting, untreated cavities.
